Local AI Is Better With a Cloud You Own

Loading audio...

An AI model running on your computer puts intelligence under your control. A cloud running on computers you own gives your digital life a home.

Merka Vault brings those two ideas together. Local AI. Your own cloud.

Your files, photos, applications, and private computing belong in the same story. You can start on the computer you already own, then add dedicated hardware when you want an always-on system.

Local intelligence needs a home

Local AI makes private computing tangible. Install a supported model, chat with it on your computer, and keep working offline once it is ready.

Your own cloud gives that computing a home alongside the rest of your digital life. Merka’s direction is to bring the two together, with the same ownership for your intelligence and your data.

Merka brings local intelligence into the same product as your files, photos, native apps, and owned infrastructure. The goal is a place to keep your digital life and put private computing to work.

What local means today

Merka’s native apps have a local chat path. A supported built-in provider or downloaded model generates the response on your device. Chat history is saved on the device and can sync across your devices when chat sync is active. The AI screen shows the model, where it runs, and the chat storage status.

Model preparation and downloads are part of the app experience. Image and audio inputs are available where the model and device support them. A feature can be unavailable when the operating system, memory, or installed model cannot support it.

Once a supported model is installed and ready, local chat can work without an internet connection. Downloads and updates still need connectivity. So do remote access, offsite backup, and applications that depend on outside services.

Local AI still needs power and suitable hardware. A compact model on a laptop and a larger workload on dedicated compute have different limits. Owning the machine does not make every model fit, and local operation does not remove the model’s license conditions.

What your own cloud adds

A model needs somewhere to work. Your files need somewhere to live.

Merka gives photos, files, and applications a home on computers you control, with native apps for everyday access. Your keys stay in your hands. Optional Care adds managed backup, remote access, and support around that foundation.

For a family, the combination means an owned archive alongside private intelligence. For a professional practice, it means sensitive records and local computing under the same owner’s control. For a self-hoster, it means a product that brings the parts together.

The broader vision is an assistant that can help with the material you choose: explain a document, find something in your archive, or help with a business workflow. The interactive assistant on our website illustrates that direction; it is not a live search of your vault.

Start small, keep control

You do not need to buy an appliance to understand the product. Start free on your laptop and try local chat where your device supports it.

Move to supported always-on hardware or a ready-built Merka Vault when you want a dedicated home for your cloud. Choose hardware for the workloads you actually need, including the memory and compute a local model requires.

Managed services are a separate choice. You can pay for help with backup, remote access, and support without making a Merka subscription the condition for local use.

We should have made this clearer from the start. Merka Vault is a home for your data and your private intelligence. Local AI and your own cloud belong together.
